Once a Year

We began the celebrations at midnight the bd eve, officially the beginning of the day.

Of course, the to do list for a perfect birthday, as everyone knows, includes cosmic bowling, late night movie, early morning naptime, great morning coffee, good run, a little baseball, a little golf, a little dancing, lots of rowdy music and good conversation, test driving a sports car, laughing out loud at something silly. Youngest added several things, like eat sunflower seeds and watch a sunset over water.

We did it all (sans porsche).

What, might you ask is cosmic bowling--so, for the uninitiated, let me briefly describe it as bowling in the dark with a light show, mtv type videos and loud rap (how many words can you think of to rhyme with . . . .). It's as difficult as it sounds if the goal is to knock down pins!

And, some like to add a little english, no charge

As for the late movie (and "late" is definitely the correct adjective), we saw Mission Impossible 3 (I love it when the bad guy gets it).

That was followed by a brief naptime about 4 am, and then despite the long night, we all got up early to enjoy some really good coffee.

Our best laid plans called for early moring batting practice, and even though we got behind schedule with the jog and a few other things, here is the goal ultimately accomplished.

Guess who was the winner here.

She said "why didn't we do this when I was playing softball?" "It's so fun and easy."

(She did not choose the 60 mph cage)

Proverbs 13 fit the day, and then with a less materialistic view on life, we skipped test driving a Porsche (at least, until I can drive it home).

We had some rowdy music

and hit some golf balls.

I drank a (one) beer,

and we all danced the two step (this is at Central Market dancin' to the Trinity Dogs).

We engaged in a great conversation and laughed out loud at several silly things through out the celebration (something that is hard to photograph--you have to be be camera-ready in the moment).

Finally, as to Youngest's suggestions, we did add sunflower seeds (without shells) and sun-event-over-water-watching (you gotta go with what you got, so this is sunrise). In many ways that reflects the new day!

(Thanks to Ellen for the sunrise on the Mississippi)

Happy bd to all.

Looks like a happy birthday! You folks in Texas take birthdays much more seriously than we do! Looks like it was a lot of fun! Nice write-up!

I was wondering if you were actually up for a sunrise. So you didn't really do a sunrise for your birthday. You remembered one, or thought of one that Ellen had seen. . .

Almost. Couldn't stay up that late.
