Eldest was involved in school activities already, so Youngest and I turned our annual fishing trip to Beavers Bend into a guys only roadtrip.
Youngest made this trip for the first time as a two year old, when Disney movies were fresh on his mind, and for that first trip, we stayed here, the cabin he excitedly chrisened "Dopey's House!!" the minute we drove up:
Now we stay in a stilted river-cabin, here's a picture:
The river's about 20 feet away, and you can just about see in the window on the right into what we dubbed the "poker salon" (you might say that Youngest's interests have developed somewhat from Disney).
Here is a shot from the balcony where we jammed-
Youngest and I both picked and sang "every song that driver knew," and we were so good that dogs howled and women swooned (well--just because there weren't any women in attendance doesn't mean they wouldn't have swooned had they been there).
Here's another balcony view:
Sunday, we rode the train--all the way down wahooo hill.
We even read a book.

Overall, we had a snappin' good time. Even the dogs -- here's coda guarding his food from the raccoons (he means it too):

And here's maddie, plotting to climb in your lap (and she will because she is absolutely convinced she is the size of a lap-sittin' poodle):
Finally, for your enjoyment, here's the original subject matter of our trip, a whopper of a rainbow trout:

(all our trout came from the restaurant this time because we slept in).
