No one commented to the original post regarding faith, but I know there are strong views among us and I would like to hear them. So, I start again with the proposition that Saving Faith is made up of the elements of Knowledge, Assent and Trust. That is, it is those who hear, believe and trust in the truth who possess the faith that is "imputed" as righteousness. Trusting is risking it all by relying on the facts, which is really, relying on the One who is the source and substance of the facts. In that context, Faith is not a work we perform, its simply acknowledging and relying on the truth.

It is by grace we are saved through faith, and that not of ourselves it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast
Eph 2:8-9 being truth
as opposed to the mormon point of view...
"For we labor diligently to write, to persuade our children, and also our bretheren. to believe in Christ, and to be reconciled to God; for we know that it is by grace we are saved, after all you can do."
2 Nephi 25:23 as being fallacy
