Even though my birthday isn't until tomorrow, we began the "12 Days [or so] of Birthday" over the weekend. It's generally a marathon of activity extending between mine and Eldest's that we begin now and continue through her b-day.
Youngest came into town Thursday night for the weekend, and so far we managed to see some great movies ("Invention of Lying," "Couples Retreat" and big screen midnight showing of "The Graduate"). We had dinner at PF Changs on Friday and ended with the midnight movie. The next night we had dinner the next night at the City Club before the "Invention of Lying." We did locate a Camaro to drool over (one item on the b-day list is to drive a "hot" car) and even though we were close to the Wooden Indian statue, decided to forgo the traditional cigar.

One of the most enjoyable parts of the on-going celebration was when Eldest brought out a bag of old birthday cards she and Youngest had given me over the years, the kind kids make. We laughed out loud repeatedly as we read through their efforts as 4 and 5 year olds to draw and write their sentiments. It was great.
Anyway, the youngers really made it a "hangin' out weekend," and it was the most fun I've had in a long time. Youngest returned to University last last night--he has late classes today and expected to go directly to the library to stay until the wee hours of the morning (best studying is done at the library, and very late, he says).
Last night, after the festivities, I fell asleep on the couch and awoke about 2 am to step in a puddle of water that I discovered running from the utility room, through the kitchen and into the den. The water in the sink there was running over the counter and onto the floor. It took every towel, sheet and dry cloth in the house to sop it up. I guess we really need a squeegee. Fortunately the floors are tile, so there are no carpets to dry. This morning everything I used to sop the water was draped over doorways and counters in the kitchen to air dry (there aren't enough dryers in the house to contain them all), and it looks like we decorated the kitchen for Halloween.
